WEST SHORE CAFÉ INTRODUCES A NEW EXECUTIVE CHEF

Chef Robb Wyss Brings 20 Years of Culinary Expertise and Creativity to Lake Tahoe’s West Shore

HOMEWOOD, Calif. – Feb. 12, 2018 – West Shore Café has named Robb Wyss the new executive chef of the elegant, yet casual lakefront restaurant. Wyss will oversee all restaurant culinary activities including lunch and dinner service, in-room dining and West Shore Café’s extensive banquet and catering offerings.

Prior to joining West Shore Café, Wyss served as the executive chef at Sunnyside Restaurant & Lodge since 2013. During his tenure, he created dishes focused around the offerings of local farms and highlighting the seasonality of the Sierra. Wyss often participated in local events representing Sunnyside, including the annual Best of Tahoe Chef’s event at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City Wine Walk and was a gold medal winner at the Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival. Prior to Sunnyside, Wyss was the Executive Chef at Illini Country Club in Springfield, IL and Chef de’ Cuisine of Bin 36 in the House of Blues Hotel in Chicago for five years. Wyss brings more than 20 years of culinary experience to Lake Tahoe’s West Shore.

When describing what drives him while in the kitchen, Chef Wyss explains, “I have come to love creating dynamic cuisine for people to enjoy. I am passionate about designing culinary dishes from local farmers’ products, and exploring new cuisine that signifies the local growing region. When I put my creativity and passion into a dish, I feel like it translates to my customers and their experience, and keeps them coming back for more.”

chef since the age of 20, Wyss is well versed in the culinary arts and creative in his development and execution of new menus. His varied background working at smaller restaurants and also larger hotel properties in Chicago gave him a great variety of experiences and a unique perspective that have contributed to his culinary leadership.

Wyss was born in Peoria, IL and his passion for culinary arts began at a young age where he started helping with gardening projects on his Grandma’s farm and learning about agriculture. He graduated with a Culinary Art degree at the Napa Valley Culinary Academy in St. Helena California in 2001. Wyss lives in North Lake Tahoe and enjoys spending his free time with his wife Carrie and his three boys, cooking, skiing with his family at Homewood Mountain Resort, playing mandolin and hiking in the Sierras.
